Everything you might be wondering before you start learning Hebrew. Still stuck? Contact us and we will help.
Is Hebrew hard to learn?
Hebrew is very approachable. The alphabet has just 22 letters, spelling is highly consistent, and words are built from logical three-letter roots. The main new skills are reading right to left and the guttural sounds — both of which come quickly with daily practice.
How long does it take to learn Hebrew?
With 10–15 minutes a day, most learners read the script in about 2 weeks and hold basic conversations in 2–3 months. The AlephTalk 60-day course is designed around this pace.
Can I learn Hebrew for free?
Yes. AlephTalk's first 30 lessons are free forever, with no credit card required. Premium unlocks all 60 lessons and extra practice — see pricing.
Do I need to know the Hebrew alphabet first?
It is the best place to start. Our Hebrew alphabet guide and the app's first week get you reading letters and vowels before you move on to words.
Should I learn Modern or Biblical Hebrew?
Most people should start with Modern Hebrew for speaking and daily use, which also builds the reading skills needed for biblical texts. See Modern vs Biblical Hebrew.
Which languages does AlephTalk support?
Lessons are explained in English, Malayalam, Hindi and Sinhala, so the grammar is clear for South Asian learners as well as English speakers.
Which devices can I use?
AlephTalk is available on both iOS and Android. Your progress, XP and streak sync to your account. Download it free to begin.
