1. Information We Collect

When you register for AlephTalk, we collect your name, email address, and preferred native language. As you use the app, we also collect learning activity data including lesson completions, quiz scores, XP earned, and streak counts. This data is used solely to power your personalised learning experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account
  • To track your learning progress and calculate your XP and level
  • To show you relevant lesson recommendations
  • To send you streak reminders (only if you enable notifications)
  • To process subscription payments securely via Razorpay or Stripe

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share anonymised, aggregated statistics for research or product improvement. Payment processing is handled by PCI-compliant gateway providers (Razorpay / Stripe); we never store your card details.

4. Data Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with industry-standard encryption. All API communications are protected via HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.

5. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hello@alephtalk.com. Account deletion permanently removes all your data from our systems within 30 days.

6. Cookies

The AlephTalk app uses functional cookies to maintain your session and remember your theme preference. We use analytics cookies (if Google Analytics is enabled) to understand how users navigate the app. You may disable analytics cookies in your browser settings.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of AlephTalk after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

8. Contact

For any privacy-related queries, contact us at hello@alephtalk.com.

Information the mobile apps collect

This section describes data handled by the AlephTalk apps for iPhone and Android, in addition to everything set out above.

  • Profile photo. If you choose to upload one, the image is stored on our servers and shown on your profile. Choosing a photo uses your device's system picker, which shares only the image you pick. You can replace it at any time, and it is deleted when you delete your account.
  • Phone and WhatsApp number. Collected at sign-up and editable in the app. We use them to contact you about your account and support requests.
  • Community posts. Questions and replies you post are visible to other signed-in learners along with your display name and photo. Do not post anything you would not want other learners to read.
  • Learning activity. Lesson completions, quiz scores, time spent, streaks and experience points, so the app can show your progress.
  • Translation requests. Text you enter into the translator is sent to a third-party translation service to produce the Hebrew result, and the result is cached to reduce repeat lookups. Do not enter personal or sensitive information into the translator.

The apps do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and contain no advertising trackers.

How long we keep your information

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account we remove your profile, learning data, community posts and sign-in tokens. A limited record of payments may be retained where we are required to keep it for tax and accounting purposes, and routine server logs are kept for a short period for security and abuse monitoring. See deleting your account for the full detail.

Children

AlephTalk is intended for adults and older teenagers, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to support@alephtalk.com and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can review and change your name, phone number, WhatsApp number, native language and photo in the app under Settings, then Account, then Edit profile. You can change your password in the same place, and delete your account and its data at any time under Settings, then Account, then Delete account.
